I first reported in January 2023 that Illinois was planning to overhaul its Medical Cannabis Portal, after Michael Morthland of IDPH previewed the upcoming portal during a meeting I attended with the Cannabis Regulation Oversight Office. Today, the state officially launched the new portal for medical cannabis patients and caregivers.
The image below shows the full announcement sent to registered medical cannabis patients in Illinois.

Moving to the new system requires you to create a new login and password for your account. For video instructions and other information on how to set up your account, you can view this How To Guide from the state of Illinois. Once you’ve set up your account, access the Medical Cannabis Patient Portal by clicking the Medical Cannabis Patient Program icon in your ILogin Dashboard.
According to the message that was sent by the Division of Medical Cannabis, patients with medical cannabis registrations set to expire or with corrections due between April 15 and May 29, 2025, have been automatically granted an extension through May 30. These individuals should log in to the new system to print an updated card. Caregivers will use a separate login to access their patient’s information. Access is provided through an invitation email. If you haven’t seen the email, be sure to check your spam or ‘all mail’ folders.
“We believe you will find this new system easier to use from any device, and think it will offer more flexibility for yourself, your medical provider, and your dispensary.”
Excerpt from the email sent by the Division of Medical Cannabis
The last time Illinois transitioned its patient portal for the Medical Cannabis Program, the process was anything but smooth. Patients and physicians faced technical issues and delays, making it difficult to access their accounts or complete essential tasks. From what I’ve seen online, so far, patients and caregivers have had a smooth experience logging into the new system.
Earlier Reporting by Cole Memo Confirmed: Portal Runs on Salesforce
The new medical cannabis patient portal is running on Salesforce. In an article that I released on January 26th, I noted that state procurement documents suggested Illinois planned to transition from Entellitrak to Salesforce, a move now confirmed with the portal’s official launch.
