Press Release: Cannabis Equity Advocates Demand Accountability for Inaction on Cannabis Policy

The Alliance for Cannabis Equity (ACE) has issued a statement in response to the most recent legislative session.

In the release, ACE addressed the failure to advance cannabis omnibus legislation, HB2911, which included language that satisfied several objectives from their list of legislative priorities.

You can view or download the entire press release below.

Earlier this year, ACE released a one-pager which included their priorities for legislative session. I produced an article with my commentary on the one-pager, which you can read here.

You can read my recap on the most recent legislative session here. The article includes GTI’s response to the concerns that have been raised by advocates. You can hear Governor Pritzker’s take on the stalled cannabis policy by clicking here.

#239 – A Look Inside the Veto Session and How Cannabis Policy Gets Made in Illinois The Cole Memo

In this episode, Cole is joined by Doug Kelly and Peter Contos of the Cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition to unpack several major developments in Illinois and across the country. Illinois recently wrapped its fall veto session, and while cannabis policy did not move, lawmakers advanced key criminal justice measures. Doug and Peter break down what passed, why it matters, and how these changes affect everyday residents and cannabis consumers. Cole, Doug, and Peter talk candidly about how cannabis policy has often been developed behind closed doors in Illinois, then close with a first look at the Cannabis Research Institute’s statewide listening sessions and what this new research effort could mean for Illinois.
