people know today is May 13 2024 and uh Aaron welcome to the coal memo it’s the first time and I think uh we’re still working on scheduling like an inperson one I was thinking about coming up to the studio so you you got to come up to the studio it’s a great time um you know it’s a you know how it is like it’s uh it’s fun to get to do what we do you know regardless but uh yeah thanks for having me on this is great I’ve been watching you for a long time like I was talking about right before we started you know uh go back to the old Reddit days you know pre- pandemic almost I think and uh you know I’ve been watching you for a long time and it’s it’s great to finally be on oh yeah yeah and there are uh you know uh you guys are doing a lot for the community I want to just say before we get into what we plan to discuss today so you’ve got you know the Fox Valley Growers Club I want to give you the space to talk about all the different things you do though just because I have a heart for growing do you mind if we start here no no this is something I’m I’m absolutely passionate about this is something I just started um there was a um a community in the area called the Aurora cannabis club uh I used to go to some of their meetups it was a really fun time I met a lot of different like uh Growers and really intelligent people who gave me a lot of great information in how to grow and I am a caregiver in Illinois so uh you know I help grow in the garden occasionally uh such as times when they may be gone um you know so uh and so it kind of disbanded and I felt like uh Fox Valley Growers Club could be uh something really cool and we could expand it more than just a city you know what I mean I want to expand like almost the whole state and just really help people medically grow cannabis and then uh I want to sign help people sign up for their medical cards so that they can be protected in Illinois I’ve been listening to you for a long time a lot of stuff that you’ve been on uh I also talk about because I hear you talk about it and I’m like oh that’s a great Point um we need more med card users uh you need to be protected in Illinois you need to be protected with what you cultivate at home you know what I mean so something I want to do and and and maybe we can work because we both attend different meetings uh uh advocacy meetings uh maybe we can uh help change the lawmakers uh Minds about uh who med card users are and and and The Growers you know what I mean hell yeah hell yeah dude and yeah I just got to say I love that that you’re doing this because you know I won’t take too much time because I want to give you this space to talk about all the other things you’re doing but just really quick for listeners that might be on the fence I just talked to somebody today that’s like ah you know I I don’t I don’t know I’m thinking about growing but I think it might just be too complicated and I’m like no you can over complicate everything I just want to say that I had no idea what I was doing in the first crop I did and maybe it was luck but the first crop I did was some of the best weed I’ve ever smoked and I had no idea what I’m doing and I still don’t know what I’m doing like admitted I’m still learning every time but and that’s what I always say in my podcasts is that um uh because I have uh another little podcast or it’s not little another podcast I do a series I do is to Growers hang out with uh my friend Marky Love Of Love green culture and that dude’s been uh he’s an exemplary grower in our area and he does some really cool things and he’s been so kind to me and introduced me to so many people and what I get to do is I get to learn from everybody because I don’t know it all you know I don’t I I know what I do but like I want to learn from everybody because then I can be great you know what I mean like I just want to grow great medicine yeah this is yeah Midwest TPS and the 630 boys we do uh live podcast at these uh at these events this is dope yeah this is it’s super fun it’s like you know I got some mic some tastes out some samples out oh yeah yeah I keep telling you you gotta come to one of these hell you got to come to one of these you would uh it’s wild it’s wild and uh we’re lucky to have the space and you know the ability the access to all these different amazing people in our community um and we get to talk to them and I get to learn something you know and there’s there’s space there’s space in the community the community wants to have a voice I’m just providing the voice for the community I’m just doing the service you know what I mean yeah and people seem to like it so I mean obviously I guess I’m doing something right I don’t know yeah no I like the intersection because it was interesting how easily you were just able to bring up your podcast like the intersection between what you’re doing for the community and how it literally bleeds into some of the media and you give looks like you gave plenty of other people a chance to like speak and stuff like there’s multiple microphones and stuff you know that yeah that’s what support do people is all about support dope people means support dope people it means talk about the people in your community doing cool things that nobody else is talking about expose them Shine the bright shine the light on everything because the light will expose all the darkness and sunshine heals all well you including including corruption well uh I I’m just regurgitating it better people than me uh came up with it you know what I mean I’m just I’m I’m standing on the shoulders of of better people before me you know oh yeah yeah so so yeah like you said Fox Valley Growers Club the support dope people uh well it’s two dope dudes podcast and then you’ve got it’s kind of Under the Umbrella of support people.com that’s yeah that’s my main podcast is the elevated News podcast with two dope dudes that’s me and my buddy Dave um I we have so much fun I’m so lucky that he’s uh that dude uh was the uh GM of a dispensary PR wck um and then during the pandemic he live streamed like five five days a week to YouTube trying to help you take your health back into your own hands and uh he would just talk to the camera for hours at a time so he’s like the best co-host yeah I’m I’m just doing my Dave impression when he’s like you know do do the thing you know um but yeah that’s my main one and that’s fun and we just talk about Illinois stuff and a lot of times we talk about some of your uh articles because you’re again on on on The Cutting Edge of some things I just wanted to say thank you yeah for for doing that I’ve seen a few episodes and it’s weird like one of them I wasn’t even expecting like I was just listening and you’re like oh yeah Cole Cole said something about that and you guys started I don’t know it just made me feel made me feel cool but uh you mentioned uh your co-host he’s back in the industry too right I wanted to say that because people like are looking for those insights like you get that out of your show as well so I mean um you know uh he he knew a lot of people knows a lot of people I’ve met a lot of people and I’m I’m lucky he’s allowed me to like co-opt his message into mine and uh you know he’s I could not be more excited about somebody being involved in the legal recreational Market than my buddy Dave because he cares about medicinal users right that’s what he cares about he cares about the experience he cares about like those people receiving help and there’s so many people that need help medicinally and in the end what are we just talking about should this user with a qualifying condition be enabled tax breaks because it’s already recreationally legal why are we talking about this why are we talking about this marijuana and CBD full spectrum marijuana and CBD is so good for you it’s so good to like regulate your endoc canabo system uh we say it all the time you take vitamins because you’re deficient in one area or another we should be taking you know CBD and and and cannabis as a whole uh into our bodies to help regulate our endoc canabo system makes you feel better allows you to sleep more you know it’s it’s such a great thing and why are we why are we even going well it might help this one or it might help that one right or like I’m not maybe we should put this qualifier on it should it be painful or severely painful what are we talking about yeah and well let’s tell people let’s back up for a second tell people I’m sorry no it’s okay wild I knew what you were talking about I knew what you’re talking about but we’ll get we’ll give so I just wanted to say one more time before hell yeah hell yeah one one thing I do want to say though before like we get get into that is uh one more time folks all the links will be in the podcast description to connect with uh yeah everything support dope people so if you want to support dope people yeah check out the links in the podcast description yeah come check us out join the live chat uh Cole is there sometimes uh it’s it’s a good time I’m there when I can be although I have a tendency to just upload something and then go away for a day and just ignore everything not that I need to but like I don’t know some weird mental trick I guess yeah I you know it happens sometimes you can’t be you can’t be to all of your own premieres you know it’s fun to be though yeah it’s fun to be able to connect and see other people’s thoughts and kind of like it’s always the ones where nobody is there where you’re there you know what I mean right exactly exactly yeah and then you tune into one or you look at one later and you’re like holy [ __ ] you know like my friends were here all my friends were here this is great yeah it’s it’s good times that’s kind of why I just ignore it and I don’t um I had a recent reel I was talking to some friends and I was like man you just got to have fun everything else does not matter if you’re worried about SEO or who’s got subscribers or whatever doesn’t matter exactly matter y ignore it it’s all noise when it becomes a job it’s not fun and if it’s not fun it’s not worth doing right period right EXA be passionate exactly and it it can be like a dual edged sword you know if you place your every you know if your whole meaning is centered around those numbers and and the response you get then it can be kind of depressing frankly sometimes and I might be speaking from experience you know when you’re like ah I thought this was going to be really exciting and like nobody tuned in it’s like you have to realize and I realize this it’s like you know I’ll watch content like yours I’ll watch content uh from other people and I really try to like support dope people yeah but you also have you know I’m sure you can relate to this I’m sure everybody listening can relate to this like there is just so much uh media demanding your attention like the new Pop-Tart movie came out I don’t have Netflix so I had to like figure out how to get that you know stream that but like you know there’s different things that pop up like oh I want to watch that oh I want to watch that and it’s you know it’s I get it people and I think about the way that I listen to podcasts sometimes I listen to a podcast like two years later it’s like oh [ __ ] this was recorded in 2022 you know so I have to remember like sometimes the podcasts aren’t for now and sometimes they are you know like I just released an episode the other day where it’s like a legislative update that could be absolutely meaningless in two weeks right um but there are some that last the test of time and they aren’t ever necess neily for now if that makes sense do you follow me when I yeah say that so might I reference5 nanograms on the colemo all the time I mean 0 five nanograms dude I don’t know if you know but there’s a really exciting episode coming out about that and how it’s I talked to a toxicologist and a few others that literally prove that it’s impossible to comply with I even found testimony from somebody who believes cannabis should be illegal from the smart approaches to marij that says the way Illinois is doing this it like you they’re not even accurately testing for impairment and that’s again somebody who doesn’t believe weed should be illegal they’re saying it’s [ __ ] up Minnesota has a thousand test kits in in in in trunks right now testing to see oh testing the the same one that’s been proven that’s doesn’t work interesting yeah uh it came out uh check out I think it probably saw it on marijuana moment a few months ago it was months ago but probably Minneapolis marijuana moment DUI yeah yeah like you know how to Google sorry yeah no no no I was for other people like if they’re looking it up you know I try to do that so that people can find what we’re talking about um oh yeah look is this what you’re maybe talking about sotoxa uh there was somebody I I remember going over it on uh one of the last podcast one of my old podcasts about uh um yeah maybe that’s exactly what it is probably says a roughly 75 units across Minnesota oh 75 I’m sorry I thought it was a thousand but this is January of 20124 so maybe it’s you know have people want to look into this there you go um so yeah uh I can’t remember how we got oh we were just talking about how the sword of um you know looking at the numbers and stuff I feel like we made our point there but we want to chop up and we can tell people the meeting we uh we went I took notes I took notes I had to take notes that was thank you so much for reminding me that was today for some reason I thought it was the 15th and I was planning on going on Wednesday and you’re like no you have to go today yeah I was like it’s in 30 minutes bro dude I was literally I was sitting in my I was working in the the garden um and that’s like the garden time so it was fine I just threw it on the on the laptop and was listening it was great yeah and so for background I’ll try to find their like website so that we can maybe see the official description but we went to a medical cannabis Advisory board meeting y right um and they do have like an official website I think that based on today’s approval of the minutes there should be as you can see I’ve looked at the meeting agendas and stuff but there aren’t meeting minutes yet there were for the ones in 2016 so I think that since we saw the minutes get approved today that they’ll be posted online soon and so folks we’re looking at the medical cannabis Advisory Board website on the Illinois Department of Health we went to a a meeting of this board today and and Aaron would you like to add anything to the background I mean I mean uh no not really we went to a meeting today and um we have some thoughts on the on on it yeah I think that’s I’ll let you start I mean um can I just can I just start with uh this uh this thing that a person said this quote that I need to like if if if if there is a thumbnail Cole if there is a thumbnail it needs to be this quote okay okay this is by Jane Nichols MD okay or PhD I don’t I I I made maybe misspeaking I apologize that’s not my intention uh this is a medical professional on the Cannabis Advisory Board and this is the quote I see myself as a gatekeeper and that right there that that’s the quote I see myself as a gatekeeper right to and and what what they are referring to is to adding new qualifying conditions Yes To The Advisory Board to pass it’s not even that it would definitely be passed it would just that we will put it forward for the head person to say yes or no correct right correct correct abolutely this is a medical professional saying I see myself as a gatekeeper to adding more qualifying conditions yeah and I what are we talking about I’m glad you started with this one let’s I’ll say it I don’t care they take you way more seriously than they take me I’m just some guy you’re Cowboy Cole no no I you started with the best point dude you could not have started with a better point and I’m displaying right now the list of conditions that are currently uh let’s say approved uh for the medical cannabis program and like you said they were voting on additional conditions today I believe Illinois news joint I’ll try to find an article on it they did reporting on it in the past what was what was confusing about it today um and I want to return to your point was it it seemed like they they needed to put these votes on the record formally so they actually had a revote so I want to be clear it’s not the Illinois news joint reported incorrectly that’s not at all what happened it’s that I guess there was a miscommunication maybe they consulted with their legal legal and they were like no these votes have to be on the record so there was some confusion and even it looked like frustration that the votes had to be casted again can can I just show you my my my I don’t you won’t be able to read that well yeah it won’t but my number one my number one thing I wrote down is some members are concerned their votes will be public yes they were I thought that was interesting very interesting because like you should stand by I think your your vote and and I want to well let’s let’s I want to also they also talked about how they themselves should be educating them themselves on the different things instead it felt like and this is what the the the board members were saying that they were supposed to be educating themselves on qualifying conditions and medical cannabis and doing the research and things like that correct right but it seemed like they wanted people to present evidence to them as to why it should be and you know what I mean not why it shouldn’t be right yeah that’s a that confuses me I mean am I am I I could just be high but it seems a little messed up to me right and I I couldn’t help but Wonder um trying to think yeah these are just my own personal thoughts I’m just wondering out loud to a colleague yeah on a recorded thing you know that people watch I when I look at this list and when I think about what decisions they’re tasked with I wanted to underscore something else before we get back to like that Original Point you made like what was done today this vote that was made to add a condition to this list just because for example I think we got through two votes that successfully oh we got through three votes because of the revote we had they they had to revote corre orgasmic disorder right and then there was uh talk about that that was where they talked about how it was confusing and they were all confused right uh it um I’m not sure if uh you know uh whose minutes they’re going by or uh who uh Ro which Roberts Rules book They’re going by but they could uh use a refresher on how to run a meeting you know what I mean I’m just saying um there was some confusion they didn’t know whether they had voted last time or this time or if they were seconding the okay that there was talk about it this time or last time it was very confusing is all I’m saying yeah I think that that’s that’s kind of what I was trying to so not only just describing that there were these votes but yeah to your point the confusion I think that was caused at the beginning is because there was a vote for that Fe female orgasmic disorder like you said it was a revote and I think the confusion was like hey didn’t we already vote on this and it was I think like you say the frustration was they kind of viewed that as like hey that should be like in the works like this guy maybe should have reviewed this by now maybe we get a maybe we get an update and so I think that adds to the frustration of like hold on a second this hasn’t even [ __ ] left your desk yet because we have to do this formal vote again that we all know we have passed and agree on you know I mean I don’t know it I there was a person there that was uh the acting uh what was it the acting chair or acting co-chair uh they you know obviously a meeting public meetings are hard to handle part your J I don’t want to come across like I’m just like can’t do anything which they can’t but that’s besides the point I’m not trying to like be like that but it’s a lot to handle you know what I mean but I was going to make that point you know there’s 20 plus people on AIS a zoom call basically that can be tough to you know to to handle and I wanted to say that it is one of my notes that it the meeting just moves frustratingly slow I think as a result to it being virtual and there’s different you know interruptions and such but you know uh I think we underscored the point that you made which is that this vote that happened today that finally happened as you said we got through three um we got through andr it just goes to their desk right it doesn’t even guarantee that it’s gonna pass there’s still some that they that we have to vote on do we have a do we have a zar now did did did our Zar get installed yet or uh what’s the word on there Cole could you let me know I think the I think with these conditions it goes to that direct the director position okay so in the past for example I can show you this and folks can download this if you go to colo.com hisory you can download a document and I think in 2017 or something uh Nar Shaw was which was then Illinois Public Health director was recommended to approve new conditions and they vetoed that and ultimately after that happened I believe is when uh PTSD was added um shortly thereafter um but but part of that concession was as I understand it basically the disbanding you know it yeah of that I was I was around yeah as a med user I I remember PR um you know like 2016 2017 I mean there was a point where they wouldn’t even uh uh even consider new uh qualifying conditions Bingo yeah right exactly they would not even consider it that that’s kind of it was almost like you can have your PTSD but that’s all you’re G to get goodbye yep and this board coming back was really exciting this meeting that we went today was the second one that’s happened it’s been exciting to see some mve I like to go to any policy meeting where we’re talking candidates right sure sure I want to hear what’s going on I want to know what people like kind of the you know people’s thoughts are you know because I mean I always say it’s not actually legal in Illinois as you say intent is criminalized I say it as well uh weed’s not legal we have a highly regulated tax structure that’s it yep you can as you know you can still go to jail today for cannabis in Illinois yeah it’s ridiculous just a Shameless plug folks Co memo.com isit legal if you want to hear some stories of people that have been the victim of this continued war on cannabis in Illinois um but the point I was working up to dude back to your gatekeeper comment dude you started with such a great comment because here we are looking at this limited list and I wanted to ask you I had this Epiphany in here and I was like h i you know how they Define they always point to the medical cannabis program in Illinois being established as like the most highly regulated highly comp client market and then now they say that we’re the best adult use market right A lot of people I know that we would would disagree but right we would disagree but a lot of people point to Illinois as you know we started the conversation about social equity and we’ve got a vibrant cannabis Market where nobody goes out of business that whole idea um and I guess what I’m a what I’m working up to is I wonder if having a limited list of conditions is also a feature of cannabis 2.0 right so you have I think so I really I really think so uh but I mean as we heard on you know a different meeting you know the state lawmakers are complaining that our medical card numbers are dwindling right well you got to give the medical card holders like something good because right now it’s not it’s other than protection from what you’ve called at at home and five five plants that’s about it yeah you know what I mean and and we’re still not helping people that that that’s the main point is we’re still not helping people we could be helping so many more people and is uh you know uh just it’s just astounding the things that we could be doing and just the conditions we could be adding and just helping people uh you know that need it they need it the compassionate use of medical cannabis correct right but I guess just to finalize my point that I really feels under feel underscores your point about gatekeeping in California we all know or maybe we don’t I don’t want to assume in 1996 California LED the way with like the first medical marijuana legalization in California yep and I think this might even springboard us into like one of my my thoughts that I had about this but real quick to your first point um this law allowed for the use of medical cannabis for treatment of quote any serious medical condition now that was back then right um and obviously I say any serious condition a lot of people make fun of California because it seems so easy to get a medical card you just say like ah I my back hurts and you get a medical card and I think that’s awesome but anyways it it seems to have been further clarified in 2003 and 2016 uh the law like in recently as 2016 uh their laws maintain a broad interpretation allowing doctors to recommend cannabis for any ailment which they believe it could provide relief for correct this broad Criterion makes California one of the more flexible States regarding medical cannabis usage and they led the way and I guess back to your point of gatekeeping it’s like I wonder again yeah is limiting the list and making sure that it’s not accessible as you know very accessible as that a feature not a flaw I heard I heard I heard a medical professional today argue that uh they were discussing PCOS which is a uh uh something that happens to women I don’t know much about it I know it’s terrible I know it’s I believe it’s a hormonal thing um I could be wrong if I am I so apologize uh but I had I heard this medical professional argue today that because a person has this disease and uh they shouldn’t be using marijuana to like deal with like sleep issues associated with that disease or depression associated with that disease or like just feeling overall better and wanting to go out and exercise uh which helps them deal with their disease as we heard somebody attest to I’m just going by what somebody else attested to and that just blows my mind they’re so focused on pain will it treat the will it treat the actual disease does these doct s understand that if you’re prescribed opioids if your condition is so bad that you’re prescribed opioids you have access to medical cannabis that means you can go get RSO you can go get suppositories you have access to that stuff immediately in Illinois thank God we have that alternative thing so why are we so focused on will it treat the actual condition like the root cause of the condition yes all cannabis use is medicinal use whether it’s for treating something specific or just what we what Dave calls the [ __ ] it all you know you have to take care of head too sometimes you have to be able to sit and think and go do I need to worry about this do I need to worry about my SEO what do I worry about ah let me just go grow some plants and have some fun and not worry about it yeah you know what I mean like that’s a good thing too that’s good for your head and and so we need to promote more qualifying conditions and and that everybody you know have access to Medicine exactly yeah that you you went exactly where I was thinking like why limit it why make it why be a gatekeeper why is that even an attitude and to the second point that you made and I feel like this is a good transition there was a lot of questioning of of the conditions and it’s like I get I I want to just start off with trying to see their side of it and then I want to try say my side of it I get trying to be I guess diligent about especially if perhaps as some suggested even systemic like that there’s a system that we follow and that’s understandable I get that yeah but let’s not act like any of the conditions that have been approved already have settled science behind them either I’m not saying cannabis is in effective even though that was some of the things that were said today we can get to that um which I don’t we’ll get to that um but uh I just wanted to say that really quick because it’s like okay hold on a second this rigorous like assessment we’re giving these new conditions like the other conditions like I and I know the other ones a lot of them are super serious so of course they should be on the list I’m not questioning the validity I’m just saying like did they all go through this scr scrutiny like ERS doners uh can you show me uh how how we qualified that back in the day please show me show me show me the same things that you’re asking right now about what what did they say they wanted to add uh severely painful to the qualifying condition recommendation of aarian cyst why why do we have to add qualifiers why do we have to do this or that why do we have to decide how it affects somebody else you’re if you’re a medical professional your job is to either educate or to treat right yeah so are we treating the root cause or we we treating the symptoms who are you to say what the what the actual symptoms are and person to person and is it effective from person to person who are you I don’t care that you’re practicing medicine I don’t care that you’ve had a certain lots of training in a generalized study of this or that or specialized but like you show me the you show me the peer-reviewed stuff that says it doesn’t work because I’ll show you the peer-reviewed stuff that says it does prove to me it doesn’t work Medical Professional right I don’t have just anecdotal evidence yeah yeah well said I mean it was uh it was was not surprising but it uh I I mean I mean that in that uh I generally don’t have a uh positive attitude that the government is going to take care of something well right but you know we should be clear that a lot of these people uh well there’s a number of them that seemed to be in the health profession field there was I was looking at the list there’s supposed to be an advocate and I believe there’s also supposed to be just like a patient and a caregiver like so there’s like representation from different groups um but I would say most of the people we heard from today were in the health care field like I was part of the the board and um you know yeah uh one of the points that you made that I think like I I don’t mean to take it in too much of a different direction but like at the end of the day I I thought one of the strongest points that people were bringing up whatever the condition is was that it’s just as better data collection I thought that was an interesting point like whatever the condition is like why wouldn’t you want specificity because as they acknowledged on the onset of the meeting and kind of I think with this entire ation is revolving around is that people are using other conditions to quote get in the program again as if it needs to be gatee kept um they understand that like we no you don’t need your doctor to qualify you right you need your doctor to you need your normal doctor okay I go to the normal doctor because I have insurance I am very lucky right you know thankfully my wife has a great job great Insurance thanks babe appreciate you um so I go to the doctor right and I go doctor this is my problem the doctor says this is what you have if it’s a qualifying condition I don’t need my doctor to go sign this thing blah blah blah they already do that they already have like my chart or whatever you just go to the Pod doctor for 175 bucks or whatever and say hey here’s my paperwork that says I have uh you know uh traumatic brain injuries right he goes or they go pay your money to the state guess what you got a card you don’t need the doctor right you don’t need to be a gatekeeper you know what I mean you need to diagnose either treat the symptom or be an educator and if you’re an educator if you’re making educated decisions I expect you to have education yeah so like you know but I mean that’s just me like I guess don’t let perfect become the enemy of good but yeah you know I just know how they just didn’t know how they could refute the idea that like more data is good like again like if you’re using you know like a lot of people just use migraines or PTSD to get a card to treat and I’m not knocking anybody but to treat like other conditions well that’s dangerous in Illinois uh you really have to think about what you’re doing in Illinois and the uh different conditions that you may use uh you may find that in Illinois uh they don’t uh necessarily have uh strong gun rights and you you would do well actually I do want to talk to you about that did you see that in 39 41 that said a uh user would not be disqualified or would not be considered uh a uh disqualifying person just because of medical card use I did not see that let me let let’s pull it up I think that was in uh thanks Peter appreciate you from Cannabis equity illino Coalition lawful user card holder shall not be considered unlawful user or addicted to narcotics solely because of medcard status page 33 it that’s that’s SP 3941 that’s in that uh Second Google dox he linked yeah that one right there yes sir so you know in Illinois if you are a medical card holder right or if you are a caregiver you cannot purchase a firearm in in store in Illinois you can have you can be a FOID card holder you can be a concealed carry holder they’re one and the same now but you cannot actually purchase a firearm why because Illinois State Police uh basically what happens is that because of the fory card you have to pass a background check fine it’s the same background check the federal government does after Illinois State Police does the same one it’s the same thing it they’re just gate Keepers so they won’t actually even let you they won’t even hit next if you’re a med card or a caregiver in Illinois well and the other problem is is there’s this question on the Federal Form 4473 yeah I had to look it up as you can see I Googled marijuana question yeah yeah uh and you know technically I think even Hunter Biden is being you know that he’s taking this provision to task uh In a Different Light not for his use of cannabis but for other substances but hey you know a win’s a win we get it exactly I’m like dude that would be intentional hero right exactly it’d be so hilarious to to like to be able to say that Hunter Biden gave you more Champion yeah he championed our firearm rights it’s yeah that’d be a good one I can’t wait to see your memes on that yeah so but like you say that that’s a but I did not see that I’m going to have to look that that’s so I mean so it’s spelled out in law that means do we get ISP to do it not that Illinois will allow you to purchase anything anymore that’s yeah you know mostly even useful but and that’s the way I’ve always looked at that issue if it’s a federal question why are they worrying about it like they don’t need to be worrying about well that’s the whole point about the flud card in the first place is okay so you have you have this database F uh I I don’t want to say fine okay that’s the way it is right right but why am I doing the same background check and then have to do a federal 4473 it’s the same thing why am I paying you and then you still can’t even you know what I mean it’s yeah it’s a whole other podcast genre exactly exactly I’m just saying it exists within the Cannabis space in Illinois as a byproduct and I noticed that was laid out so I was wondering do you think that has anything to do with anything yeah I mean it I because after the Illinois gun ban right you should and and that was my original point you should be careful you may not want to say that you have PTSD if you are a lawful gun user user you may be a prohibited person in the future from having that yeah Illinois’s done weirder stuff just saying right well if they they theyve I believe they tried to change how private sale works which is the only way currently you can as a medical engaged it’s called engaged in the business rule if you are a private person uh transferring your uh firearm to another private person you are engaged in the business it’s a new ATF uh Biden uh rule medical patients can’t purchase firearms legally anymore caregivers can if I if if if my patient is my grandmother let’s just say yeah because she’s wheelchair bound and I go and get her medicine I cannot have my natural right natural right means because God exists duh like it goes without saying this is our natural right duh it goes without saying that means that that is afforded to you before anything else and that’s what your Second Amendment right is it’s a natural right as a human you should be able to defend yourself from other people with the same amount of force that they have yeah and I my last thought on that before we get back to the medical thing is if people are wondering you know if you are I assume if you’re listening to a cannabis podcast you’re skeptical of the police and if you are I would caution you to make it so that they’re the only ones that have firearms I would just say if you’re really worried about the police and just trust them maybe don’t make it so that they’re the only ones that are armed unless you just really trust them if you all yeah all gun control is racist all gun control is racist I think everybody I I want to I want to arm everybody I think everybody should have training like intelligent training and know what it is at least know what it is don’t be scared of it because it’s nothing to be scared of and I could be wrong I think Senator lightford I might be wrong but I believe she’s the proponent of this of this measure with firearms because she I could be wrong I need to Google this maybe uh uh she her husband may have been like a victim of a mugging and he is a concealed carry and he was able to defend them oh I do remember that that was a couple months ago right I I I’m not sure on the timing of it but I I’ve heard that story so I’m gonna do a little quick Google to make sure it’s her um you know but uh yeah somebody I know that’s a representative that’s a Democrat uh is pro you know 2A for that reason so yeah um I can’t I’ll I’ll try to find that um but just back to oh yeah yeah uh September 23d 2021 Yahoo reported Senator lightford recounts harrowing details of being carjacked with husband I beg them not to shoot us remember that when everybody wore masks yeah her husband Carrie uh had a concealed carry permit and exchange gunfire with the three suspects after telling her to run so folks you can look into the story I mean it’s kind of coincidental that yeah this is the person that we were just talking about behind the leg that’s fantastic and you know uh she is uh doing a lot of great things for cannabis in Illinois I think I mean she’s getting things moving whereas we were not moving before and so uh I applaud uh her for for doing some good things yeah I think that’s great yeah so we that was a good spiderweb uh to get back to the meeting just like briefly uh I want to see if you had any other thoughts um you know we’ve been kind of you know going through I feel like we had some really strong starting points do you any other big thoughts I’ve got a thought that uh I’ve got cocked and loaded but I want to give you the space what else you got oh I mean I mean I could talk I just think it’s wild that these these people are just not interested in adding to the qualifying conditions we should be adding there the uh our state is complaining that we don’t have enough dat data they’re complaining we don’t have enough med card users we should be adding all of these we should recommend everything we should put P we should tomorrow we should on uh we should uh petition to put PCS back and we should just keep bringing it and we need more people to come and talk intelligently about how cannabis helps you how it could help you if uh your condition was a qualifying condition we need people who are intelligent and passionate to come speak against these people who just don’t understand they understand what they understand but they don’t understand all this other stuff and we do yeah and I’m glad you brought that up this isn’t the the other point I’ve got it noted though so that I don’t forget but I’m glad you brought that up it it brings up a thought that I had which is that kind of related to some of the points we made earlier it seems like this rigorous scrutiny of of the the approval it just seems like they’re neglecting the fact that this is a recommendation not a prescription yeah like the doctor I you know you have to re you have to recertify so who’s to say that uh somebody uh on the meeting was talking about a ruptured cyst it could happen at any time who’s to say that you know uh if they get a med card right now because they have a ruptured cyst and three months down the road it’s better or or six months down the road it’s better and they go to recertify they go I don’t need it anymore who’s to say that doesn’t happen it could any more than you know whatever other uh you know thing that they pretended could be a thing you know what I mean to make their decision no why are we it’s it’s just it’s ridiculous we need to like add them we need to recommend them all we need to petition to put it right back on we need to keep having the conversation with these people they need to hear that we’re outraged because they stopped having meetings because they didn’t want to hear us that’s that’s really what it was you know they didn’t want the feedback and nobody really wants to be told they’re doing a bad job and they’re not necessarily doing a bad job they just need to understand that cannabis is for everybody and we shouldn’t be gayek keeping it it’s yeah just the an it’s just anti- everything that what the compassionate use of medical cannabis is you know we need to be expanding that program not diminishing it we need to include it we need to get the data we need to have people know that it’s a qualifying condition so they can talk to their doctor about it so their doctor can log the data so we can do more studies you know it’s what are we doing man like you know it’s crazy it is it is so what’s your point I want to hear what you have to say I can ramble all night long I got my little puff go proxy I got some nice live hash razen you know we get high we go I got some turp wizard from Michigan shout out that dude son yeah that dude is awesome you got plenty to choose from Boda cat yeah dude what hey man yeah yeah come hang out I know you’re not that you’re far but you’re not that far away you can make a trip I’m not that far away and I just I’ll have to tell you about it if you remind me when we’re off here I got a cool new thing that allows me to make trips like that more often but anyways bring me some drinks absolutely dude yeah I want some soda dude I’m gonna have to get some more sodas uh there’s so many different soda like I just tried this other one uh the other day and it’s uh it’s so good I got to get more of them is what I’m saying because I soda I want that Delta eight Cal memo soda the stoned cold yeah man let me get a let me get like a let me get like a promotion code for that you know start pimping it on the website hell yeah hell yeah I don’t know if you ever saw but that was uh I people still message me to this day that was totally an April Fool’s joke oh I know okay cool I’m I’m I have to make it clear now because people still they’re like congratulations dude if I can support you in any way where can I get a case and I I like actually breaks my heart because people just want to help they’re like want to be supportive and I’m like I’m so sorry it’s an April Fool’s joke to make a different point I mean uh as a this is totally a side note but um if you actually want to make it happen I probably know some people you could probably actually make it happen oh yeah no I actually had a comp a few companies after just doing this is a joke being like hey let’s you know I’d be happy to you know work at a deal where we get you know and it’s like I honestly I don’t have any oddly enough I don’t have any aspirations to like get into the Cannabis industry you know what I mean um in fact I just like kind of want to not because it seems so volatile and like honestly if I have things go my way which is like completely open market it will be harder to you know compete and I I would I don’t know that I would want to get into it you know I’m just not that competitive though I know some people that are I totally get you I’m not competitive in that way either like I would rather just be really good at what I do and not like worry about am I doing better than so and so but I agree with you I think uh I am in favor of a way more open market than we have now yeah um I always say name name one thing the government has done that made it more efficient more cost effective or better name one thing right so just stay out of it let it let let the market figure it out because it’ll figure it out quick let the market decide we don’t have free market capitalism we have a very regulated market I will say and I know that like especially with the way the the law is written in Illinois right now before I do have my other point [ __ ] and load and I think you’ll love it that I bring up for the medical cannabis Advisory board meeting because it’s like a really important one I think uh the um I always like to say open market but I do say that I actually do like one of the license limitations that Illinois has which is the 10 dispensary limit and uh three cultivation limit now I’m not saying it has to be 10 or three I’m just saying I like that there is a limit and it’s the idea that uh so I think you should not limit the number of licenses that any like that should be issued you like if we wanted to get one right now we should be able to buy one but we should only be able to buy I think we should only be able to buy a certain amount and the reason I say that is because it’s the idea that so there’s no restrictions on buying them but there’s a restriction on the on the amount that you have so that nobody gets any bigger than another person and so that there’s no Walmart like even though there is right now I know that there is some Walmarts of cannabis in Illinois guess my point is what’s that cabbage Club baby yeah I mean there are some there are some Walmart can join verano’s cabbage Club right now I was gonna say I’ve had some of you know you could say some companies that have been on my show could be categorized as you know a Walmart of cannabis but like uh I think there’s a place for them but I think there’s a place for everybody and like I guess what I’m saying is ideally if there was no license limits but license caps owners ship limitations um you’d still have your Walmarts but you nobody would be bigger than any other one so you’re saying like Okay so I agree with you and like that’s a point that I always make about the social Equity licenses why are we stopping why are why is that the stopping point for entry into the market right I want the social Equity dispensaries and cultivars and cultivators and trans I want you in the market yeah I want you in the market five years ago why are we waiting so long get in let’s go and I’ll take it a step further I think the people that don’t qualify as social Equity again no license caps but the people that do not qualify as social Equity pay some sort of fee that goes to help because the one other issue with social Equity that people that do qualify for it tend to not have access to Capital okay so then we still fund a social Equity program you know somehow I I definitely I would rather uh taxes a be voluntary if taxes are good make them voluntary number one but I don’t I also say uh don’t let perfect become the enemy of good I would rather my taxes go to something worthwhile like Hey we’re gonna take 5% of all the taxes that you pay us all year from everybody this is just like a whatever yep off the top of my head spitballing and we’re going to like make a program where like uh new uh upand coming craft dispensaries are supported and have some sort of program to go through and it’s all paid for because there’s social equity and then they get a little like Head Start little leap dude that’s great let’s go that like if it’s for empowering other people I’m for it if it’s for empowering the state to get more money yeah no right that’s not what you’re for that’s not what you’re for state that’s not what you’re for government please everybody go read what the state is anarchy of the state by Murray rothbard please please you will understand what the state is and what the state isn’t they go step by step please I’ll have to read that yeah you should it’s uh it’s like uh on the Mount Rushmore of books yeah like if you’re only gonna read like four great ones that’s definitely one of them anatomy of the state I so I have person’s name listed I I like you though even though I took the note in the moment like you I don’t want to butcher their name you probably remember who I’m talking about somebody said something like cannabis is not safe uh and they clarified it after somebody said oh you know cannabis is being moved from schedule one to schedule three they’re saying I think they said something the fact it’s the government acknowledging it’s safer and he like clarified he’s talking about cocaine yeah yeah and he’s like saying that doesn’t mean it’s safe um yes and he clarified that it’s not just Ty or somebody else clarified that it’s not just Tylenol it’s Tylenol flating think somebody was trying to make a point that even the government is saying that there’s a medicinal use and they’re talking about rescheduling they’re only talking about rescheduling it doesn’t mean they’re gonna my I guess my conspiracy theory is based off of nothing is that we’re not actually going to get scheduled we’re going to get schedule 3B we’re going to get a special schedule because the government’s not equipped to figure out all this stuff I’m sorry the government’s not equipped to do that they’re so slow moving they’re so procedural procedural which is how it’s supposed to be but it’s not supposed to be this big now we’ve gotten it so big that it gets in the way of itself you know what I’m saying but like it just it just doesn’t happen for him it doesn’t happen for him but we need to make it happen yeah you know what I mean yeah well said but you know but just back to the Cannabis is not safe and I saw a lot of people disagree with that like visibly they were like what like some people even like it looked like they were like taking notes and they were like I saw somebody go they kind of like looked up you know they were like looking down then they like looked up like did I just hear what I thought you you made the best point to me I was like hey should I just audio in or should I like download WebEx on my phone and you’re like no you have to download WebEx and watch these people when they talk because some of the things they say is just wild and they have some of the wildest facial expressions and God love them yeah yeah God love them I hope they don’t I hope they don’t watch this and start start turning off their cameras but um well I think board members should have their cameras on I do I think if I think if you’re a public if you’re a public board member on a a an Advisory Board you should be public that’s part of your job there that’s part of signing up for that right isn’t it don’t you think I think so I yeah I think so and I you know yeah so I actually you know in a weird way I do agree that cannabis is not safe but that’s not the point I know it is used as a and I want to I’ll clarify that if you want me to like I don’t think anybody’s saying that it’s completely safe I don’t think anybody’s saying that smoking something is completely safe I think we’re you know know your m ingestion number one always know your methods of ingestion is smoking uh better than something else is Edibles better than something else is my biology uh such that I can my kidneys can digest cannabis right uh am I uh eating uh stuff from the dispensary that has lots of sugar in it is that healthy for me no that’s probably not healthy for me are there better Alternatives yes But first you have to know your methods of ingestion then you have to know your tolerance you have to know your limits you know you have to do the work that’s the important thing you have to do the work I’m sorry I didn’t mean to ramble about that no no it was a really wellp put point you know and that’s that’s kind of the what I was trying to say like yeah what’s this comparison we’re making anyways right better you know it’s not dangerous it’s like hold on a second that’s not really what this ever was about you know what’s not safe is throwing somebody in a [ __ ] cage and taking them away from their family that’s what this was about that’s what this was about you know what I mean so it’s not about nobody legalized threat of violence legalized threat of violence put you in a cage against your will nobody should have that right yeah so I the way I would have said it if I were I would have said generally speaking it’s it’s not benign that’s what I would say in other words you know it’s not awful but it’s not the worst thing therapy doesn’t treat tumor cells it just kills certain cells in your body so why are we worried about if uh a cannabis suppository can help treat endometriosis like if it’s pain relief great if it’s mental pain relief fantastic who are you to say it’s not effective for somebody right and you know I know that some people might disagree with the point I’m about to to make but it’s like I think cannabis is closer to Coffee than anything else and I saw somebody make that point yes in the the chat like it’s like said something like is cannabis or uh is tobacco or alcohol scheduled you know and it’s like training for uh Springfield that we both went to I remember that person because I’ve been making it a point to refer to cannabis as like a craft coffee house yes a craft a a center of the community yes a center of the community wholesome filled with uh people conversing with each other uh you know uh Wares things like that that’s how we need to be addressing cannabis I love it and I heard that and I was like oh my God give me tingles yeah and talk too because it’s perfect because you know just like C like I do view uh like I can only drink a little bit of coffee and if I drink just the right amount it’s it’s nice you know it’s a good pick me up in the morning but if I drink too much I’m spy the same could be said about weed and it’s not that it’s a bad thing it’s just that like context is key right and that’s why we need more education about CBD and hemp we need to yeah you just got me on a rant thank you Mr CBD for saying this so many times to me my friend Mr CBD please go check out Mr CBD Chicago I won’t even give you my discount code you can find it on your own but the guy has so many products that are so fantastic uh just blow your mind so we need to have education uh instead of calling the ambulance when somebody greens out we needed to be giving the macro doses of CBD because what that does is that counter affects the THC effects and education is key you know there’s so many products within the same realm that we can be using that are wholesome for you are good for you superfoods uh hemp hemp superfoods uh uh like whole hemp seed oil or hemp Parts gez get some hemp parts put them in your yogurt put them in your oatmeal they’re easy to digest it’s it’s so good for you uh you know like what are we even talking about I know that’s that’s my thing today what are we even talking I don’t know I I just made it up in my head yeah you know but like education and CBD we need to be using that we need to be using that to combat you know uh having the effects of th and to your point somebody said something to me just because you get anxious when you smoke a certain strain of weed doesn’t mean that another person their effects that’s what they need that they need that anxiety maybe you need something else and just because it makes you feel bad or doesn’t make you feel the way you want it doesn’t mean that that’s not an effective you know uh uh treatment of symptoms for somebody else that’s knowing what the strains are and ignoring sativas and indicas and knowing your terpenoids and knowing your flavonoids and and not worrying about your inflated THC percentage that was sold to me last year or cultivated last year and sold to me yesterday you know what I mean who cares about THC yeah know what you’re trying to know what the effects that you’re trying to achieve are and do do the research into the medicine that you’re using and and and know how to treat the effects like be knowledgeable about it you don’t have to be like super knowledgeable but like have some idea what you’re doing write down like how Stuff makes you feel day by day like okay I’m taking hemps hemp hearts every day this month how do I feel on day 15 versus how do I feel on day 30 do the work do the work take your health back into your own hands use what you know nature and God has provided us to treat these things for thousands of years before before we had all this Advanced Medical knowledge like that’s fine but like use what Nature has given us use what God has given us use what’s available to you use what you’re privileged to be able to access be knowledgeable about it you know that’s what cannabis teaches us right it’s a it’s a mother plant who teaches you something it is one of the the plants on this Earth that that has knowledge for you to unlock you know uh DMT iasa uh um you know acid mushrooms psilocybin all those are are things that leave you with a feeling or or or if you allow it to teach you something about yourself or about the world and and cannabis is just as powerful as any of those in fact if you’re taking it like Edibles that’s psychoactive and you should be careful you should be careful because science tells us that if you have pre-existing mental conditions such as schizophrenia you should not take it ever because it can it can trigger something in your brain and you can have side effects or it could trigger schizophrenic episodes and that’s dangerous cannabis can be dangerous our brains are not fully formed until we’re 26 should people be consuming cannabis in high amounts recreationally before they’re 26 six probably not it’s probably not great for your brain development maybe but probably not right that’s where it can be dangerous but know what it is know the risks know what you’re trying to treat you know what I mean just be knowledgeable about it yeah D knocked it out of the park like I couldn’t have said it better myself I’m like if I could just like T very shortly say I guess what I found troubling about like the the fact that they don’t share that attitude that you just like beautifully laid out like that they’re even talking about like what schedule it is like in my opinion if you are on the medical cannabis Advisory Board and I know this is my opinion and that’s why I pref it that way uh that everyone has one but I think that if you’re a medical professional you should you probably believe and you’re truly an advocate for cannabis you shouldn’t believe that it should be scheduled at all so it’s like an advocate for patients don’t be an advocate for cannabis we don’t need you to be an advocate for cannabis we need you to be an advocate for the patients and for the conditions that the patients that you’re trying to help and treat are yeah that’s a good point yeah good Clarity there because like yeah don’t don’t make it just about cannabis because as it stands a limited number of people are you know able to work with the cannabis plant so yeah make it about the patience that’s a I have time to go over like uh studies from like Raphael machula I have that time they don’t have that time yeah you know what I mean like be the advocate for for what you’re specialized in and the people who are passionate about what this is and and how this can help you will will be the advocates for that and and that’s why we need people to join uh your patreon and support people like you and come learn how to grow at box Valley Growers club and listen to other cannabis podcasts and and talk about stuff and and be involved with Chicago normal or cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition be involved the lawmakers care about money and people if you ain’t got the money you got to show up yep and and yeah we go to the meetings we know nobody’s showing up for us Ain’t no Nobody showing up for us Adrien Chicago normal the work that Peter and Doug do from Cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition and then uh Minnie and I I forget her name uh on the other side doing the uh you know the neighborhood work and and and all that stuff is fantastic love them we need more people like that we need more people like you Cole talking about things asking people questions where MSO companies are watching your stuff to go well what are they saying about us what does the public think please tell us what you think so we can tell them right well said get involved well said and like to your point that you know it’s like you say there are plenty of people I’m glad that you made it clear yeah there are plenty of people that are really like we just displayed that document earlier that Peter made that’s he’s [ __ ] killing it to underscore your point and I feel like this is what you meant to say like it’s always the same small list of names and I’m glad to see you all and they’re all really cool people but I just wish more people were shown up because it it worries me I guess it’s one of the points I’ve made on the show where it’s like I don’t know if you remember but it’s this box Brown comic I’ll try to find it but it’s like this idea that you know people become apathetic after cannabis is sold in stores because it’s like what’s the big deal and it’s like the big deal is that there’s still a lot of work to be done I mean I would like to see some products in Illinois that uh are are um I mean as you know they’re they’re not great like I don’t want dry weed yeah you know listen to Listen to Cole’s uh two episodes ago you know about why the weed is dry this is the comic I was referring to he says yeah one of my concerns is losing momentum for legalization the Netherlands has a small hobbled together cannabis Market riddled with major problems illegally transporting weed from illegal grow shop to Legal shop but they’ve lost the political will to fix it the average person sees the Cannabis issue is over and this sounds remarkably like Illinois I mean there’s not so much issue right here this was a specific to you know Amsterdam but this sounds like Illinois it does and and we were listening in on some transporter some potential transporter amendments uh earlier and there’s talk of a distribution center and that would be a private entity owned by somebody who has lots of uh connections around the state and um I linked an article about uh what happened to the biggest uh re uh transporter in California that went under and did not pay their bills and how the market is collapsing there because there was this middleman of who who owed who what and then as it collapsed now people are unable to get you know their medicine which is unfortunate and we should not following their footsteps that’s not something we should follow and and I’ve said for a long time if you if you look at historically what happens and what they’ve been doing I think the next thing is is that they will be coming after the homeg grower they will be coming after the people who do events because uh I don’t I don’t think this is uh you’ve talked about this much on your show but um like some of these gray Market events that happen um I think uh people would be really surprised what happens at these events and uh I don’t see any msos ever I see people that work at that maybe you know Growers on the side but I don’t see any msos it’s kind of crazy yeah and I’m not I I’m totally fine with talking about it now but truth be told the reason I haven’t talked about it is well first of all I wanted to attend one and I was invited to one couldn’t make it I think it was I’ve invited you to a couple yes you should have came to that there will be a uh I believe there will be a melt rodeo in July supposed to appear well Cowboy Cole supposed to appear met my friend turo there got me some uh Michigan live rosin so uh y’all should come out to the Melt Rodeo it’s a fun time so yeah uh talk about good things that people are doing and that is a really good I guess the only reason I have I’ve hesitated to talk about it is candidly I’m like worried about somebody shutting it down but I’m going to show up and I guess if that happens like that’s my civil disobedience for the day I saw the chief of police there last time so I think you’ll be fine yeah oh yeah and uh where’re that location is generally speaking friendly at least Blue Island so yeah and other places I don’t know where it’s at the oh the uh the rodeo is an actual I guess it’s gonna be an actual Rodeo but oh um if it’s at the same place it will not be but well we’ll see that guy uh that guy is uh he’s wild he is he was one of the co-founders of Aurora cannabis glub and he does some cool stuff in uh in our community so shout out to Nelson for putting that on and bringing cool people down but um so I mean people talk about it on on on Instagram I don’t know if they talk it about on a serious show like yours but like uh um Trappers are a thing and and black market cannabis is alive and well and uh depending on which MSO uh person you talk to and I’ve talked to a few they’ll tell you that uh their prices have dropped recently and that is a direct result of the black market raising their prices the Illinois cannabis market right now is dropping their prices you you’ll see that their prices have been dropping correct I’ve been told yeah it’s because of black market prices and it’s alive and well and I think that’s going to be the next thing that Illinois is goingon to attack they’re going to say we’re missing out tax revenue on this and that’s a shame instead of pointing to other places like New York who has a framework for farmers markets right where a small craft grower anybody could actually start growing good cannabis they could uh you know submit to the same testing that everybody has to do has to pay a tax has to do that we have Frameworks that we can point to in other states that are democratic States it’s not right leaning States it’s like left-leaning States like us Illinois and uh you know there’s a saying like if you’re talking to somebody from the left attack the left from the left if you’re talking to somebody from the right attack the right from the right you’re not going to convince them of the other thing you have to convince them of like-minded things is what I’m trying to say so like let’s let’s point to New York let’s let’s point to that where where people who are in impoverished communities can actually do something for themselves with this amazing plan and lift themselves up and create Economic Opportunity for for themselves they can feel better about themselves succeeding creating a business doing the right thing paying the taxes fining the paperwork whatever we can do that but instead we’re too concerned about we’re g to miss out you know what I mean and it’s really unfortunate but these these uh events happen and uh I recommend that you should uh you know go on your local social media and just pay attention and there’s these events Chicago’s been doing them for years you can go there they open up the warehouse and there’s just people with packs of marijuana whether it be cannabis or thca or whatever clones all of it you can find it and nobody says anything because nobody really cares it’s not harming it’s happening anyway why are we acting like why are we acting like it’s some weird thing like I can have a craft fair I can have a a coffee market right why can’t I have my hash Market why can’t I have my cannabis Market why can’t I do something in my community because that’s what they’re afraid of they’re afraid of self-sustaining communities right that’s what Peter told us earlier right Peter’s like I’m with the lawmakers all the time the the the thing I they’re afraid of you being self- sustaining and not needing them if you don’t give the government power the government doesn’t have any power just like the msos in Illinois only do what we allow them to get away with the government only does what we allow the government to get away with so speak up get involved yeah couldn’t have said it better myself and I linked uh the episode you were referring to with Dr Bob Miller from a testing lab if folks are wondering earlier you can find that in the podcast description so um check that out if you’re wondering why the weed is is dry it’s uh and I mean I just got to say since you’re a homeg grower like some people have actually con con like literally confronted me actually I was about to back down from that but yeah literally confronted me they’re like Cole you said that the weed is always dry in Illinois and like yeah uh I said no I didn’t say that I said it’s often dry in Illinois because of the regulations like I immediately like before they even finish their sentence I said no I didn’t say it’s always dry I said it’s often dry and I just have to say as a hom grower like I don’t even know off the top of my head what the regulations are in Illinois I just know they’re super strict and as you know as a homeg grower like ideally you dry you have a good dry a low and slow dry you have to kill the Cure everything else doesn’t matter you got to kill the Cure but the point of and this is you get what I’m about to say you’re probably going to be able to finish my thought here just like you did there like uh with the Cure it’s important that you have it between 55 and 62 am I right would you agree I am a person uh so uh I am generally what they said yeah that’s probably fine I like 60 60 60 for 16 days 60 degrees 60% humidity 16 days IDE talk dry ideally yes cut down whole hang plant but then cure but then cure what they what they read out at what’s ideally your level 6060 en I take that and put it in a tub and keep it in the same environment and it is stable I have friends who have Harvest from January that are still flying out the door you know what I mean because it’s kept in a a good environment yeah and I guess what I’m saying is that from what I understand because it’s got to be prepackaged and it’s got to be able to sit on the shelf for a while they cannot sell them at what we call ideal conditions correct because of the testing yeah um and the other thing is is there is something in the let me pull this up I will pull the exact piece up because I was talking to my friend about it the other day there is something in the law stating that uh it is possible to uh ask the dispensary uh worker to give you um newer cannabis but since they don’t write it in into their sop so here it is not withstanding any other provision of law a dispensing organization may offer pickup or no nope that’s the wrong one sorry um I think I know which one you’re referring to though take your timeing up yeah uh yes 410 ilcs 751 1565 Administration uh four ensure the oldest stock of a cannabis product is distributed first the proceed May permit deviation from this requirement if such deviation is temporary and appropriate so you can do it but that doesn’t mean that they’re gonna allow you to do it right but you also have to educate people about what you can actually do and what you can’t do I can ask for newer stuff but because the dispensaries are a first in first out this is what my friends who work at corporate dispensaries tell me because they’re first in first out system because it’s not written into their sop and you can’t just change the SOP and refile it with the state see that’s the other thing the state does not make it easy for somebody to change things up in order to like change your sop you have to like refile with the state and blah blah blah they make it difficult why can’t I go hey we did this thing we wrote it into our sop but we figured it out a better more efficient way let’s just change it up can I give you an example and I want you to bounce off this one just so people to illustrate what you’re talking about cuz you’re going to know how to bounce off probably with even better examples but like I remember back in the day when I would occasionally go to The Dispensary because I do hom grow doesn’t Supply me on everything I need so occasionally I’ll go there um and you know I would ask like can you just not put my thing in a bag and they’re like sorry we we have to I’m like I just hate that you give me a [ __ ] bag when I don’t need to and I’m not like being difficult I want to be clear but this is just like my heart speaking right now and um they’re like we get where you’re coming from but it’s in our sop that we have to bag it before we give it to you now I’ve actually gone within recent days and they’ve changed their sop but I guess to your point and maybe you can bounce off this they couldn’t just on a whim be like oh yeah Cole we won’t put it in a bag for you because it’s lit like it’s they wrote it out as their sop and it’s basically law at that point the receipt has to be like staple to the bad a certain way when there was a time when there was a Spenser I was going to had these like uh backpack bags and that’s they had so many of them and they actually had Overstock and so they had to get rid of them and so they started using them for bags but in their sop everything had to be stapled so these poor dispensary employees had to figure out how to staple your receipt to a drawring backpack and not ruin the backpack like why can’t we just go oh we don’t have to staple it just throw the receipt in there and give it to them yeah no it’s in the SOP that we have to staple it but if you staple it to you ruin it right so like what do we do in state the state only allows us to get away with what you know what I mean like we only allow companies to get away with so much and they’re going to do all of it so stop letting them do all of it speak up let your voice be heard say hey there’s better ways to do this let’s get some discussion going you know because government is some else for I just thought it was funny that like silly things like that are what get like hard like set in stone like they couldn’t even be flexible about the bags but what’s funny is when they ran out of bags one day that’s like they had a deviation in their sop that said like but if you run out of bags you can just give it straight to people because a deviation if temporary and appropriate if temporary and appropriate is acceptable yep but we have to make the case and well as my friends in the uh we uh talk about them as dispensaries and they’re not they’re compliance companies that’s all they are these are compliance workers they have to make sure that everything is compliant and these companies are here to make sure that certain things happen and then they exchange you that so they’re just compliance companies you know what I have said to Bud tenders on the past and I I always like felt really weird about saying this right to them because I was like please don’t just like Drop out of the podcast and like take this the wrong way you know like they just hang I understand I have I have friends yeah but I said like if you really think about it and I was hoping since we had been smoking for a while they gave me the grace and they ultimately did they to they actually agreed with what I had to say but I said if you really think about it you are basically just a glorified arm in a vending machine like basically you walk into this vending machine and they make sure to ID you like three times they like ID yep your comp compliance point and then but like they’re just okay so what do you want and they like turn around and they so they like take it they put it on the thing you know and they just give it to you they’re just a glorified arm and a vending machine it’s not even that cool like I I know you’ve been to dispensaries in other states and I’ve been to dispensaries in other states and you can like open up your cannabis in fact you could actually uh a cannabis company could a compliance company could right into their sop that you can actually smell your jars that’s actually legal in Illinois they don’t do it because as I’ve talked about with Dave on my podcast how he used to have to destroy cannabis you know what I mean you have to put like like this much cannabis right here which is I don’t know probably that probably weighs like that’s probably like an eighth you know what I mean that’s like my lowers um he would have to put that in like a gallon and a half of soil yeah and then blend it right all on camera camera too right on camera in front of this like little box like camera box thing it’s crazy yeah it’s crazy I always made the joke that because whenever somebody said they had to destroy cannabis I was like that sounds fun do you have like a bong or something like do you just like they’re like no we have to put it into soil yeah so and blend it and blend it like because like somebody’s gonna be like picking through soil for [ __ ] weed like it’s so abundant and once you grow and that’s why I love Fox Valley Growers club and that’s why I’m I’m I’m so passionate about that I want people to learn how to grow because it’s so easy you can do stuff like living soil and I always say whatever way works for you is great as long as it works for you you know what I mean but there’s so many easy ways to just be empowered and learn how to grow and once you understand what your medicine is and you can compare that to what the market is giving us man it’s it’s so empowering to grow your own medicine and have it be the quality be so much better and you can dial in exactly what you want you can you can test your cannabis right now um and it’ll tell you what your tht percentage is and it’ll tell you you know uh how much water it has in it and it’ll tell you if it has thca or you can even get tests about terpenoids you know what I mean it’s all stuff you should do what do you what what medium do you grow in let me ask you that what medium do you grow in I’m simple man I grow in uh o Fox Farm ocean Forest yeah okay yeah I tried um God I can’t think of what it’s called it’s like a cocoa mix with some soil so it kind of like it was interesting because I was afraid to fully commit to soil cocoa rather because of like the idea that you have to really watch your pH and you have to water more often you know what I mean my first modern grow back um you know in 2016 2017 I used Mother Earth cocoa and um I think that’s what it was probably what it was it’s very like if you go to like a a Brew and Grow or like a Roots hydroponic or something like that back in the day that’s what they’re going to say the thing is is that not everybody has access to clean water in the world and that’s unfortunate and for me that’s why I don’t use coco because our water was 1700 PPM [ __ ] before we the soft water filter which as you know if you’re growing in synthetic nutrients can cause lockout issues where uh there’s too much buildup of salts in your plant it doesn’t uptake nutrients uh and it either does not produce uh great cannabis or it uh under produces and that’s what you don’t want so uh for me living soil no pH R water easiest thing in the world easiest thing in the world you like you know just water only uh a plant and get like I don’t know 24 25 grams if you want you know what I mean like just barely doing anything which is you know way more way way way less money and and time than you would put in to go to dispensary and try all the different cannabis in that time and pay all the taxes for that because I’m assuming most people don’t have their medical cards because we only have what like 36,000 something like that I think that’s what uh Jason Brown down at Illinois news joint shout out to that guy dude that guy’s been doing it forever that guy’s been doing it forever yeah I really like that guy yeah for sure I got some of his stickers up right now.com for folks that are listening yeah dude shout out for that new logo of there it’s super cool they got a few different versions I got a shirt I wish I was wearing it right now I’ve got a shirt with one of the designs yeah I I saw them uh not long ago at one of the Blue Island the spliff Society event which is really really fun you should uh you should come up for one of those too dude the Blue Island ones are actually pretty easy for me to make so I have to keep my eyes peeled I really like the Blue Island ones I mean I saw you at the urban legends you walked up to me and gave me a pack of chillino Rolling Papers oh I did so you w you walked right by me as you were making your grand entrance to the uh glass blowing and you were like handing out party favors to everybody it was super fun super cool I’m not talking like bad it was it was awesome yeah and like Cole just like walks by and I’m sitting there with my wife and our partner and just drops some rolling papers right there as I’m like puffing on the the proxy and he’s like just walking by Cowboy Cole cool as [ __ ] man it was so fun that’s that’s awesome I forgot that I saw you there you see so many people it’s like we didn’t get to talk but I that was so crowded and so much going on it was so much fun yeah but yeah no it was it was cool yeah I did we did see each other there like for telling that story that’s cool as hell hey man like cowboy Cole is is the coolest if you don’t know what’s up like cowboy Cole came over and took over the whole scene for us back in the day we had a bunch of spammers and Trappers and cowboy Cole said no we’re going to give you a real place to actually uh talk about cannabis in Illinois and shout out to you for that thank you I know people I know some people may disagree but we try we try our best no I mean uh I like I If you were talking about I trees I was gonna say like I try to just let anything a lot of people try to try to uh limit they they want it to be like oh it should only be about Illinois it’s like and it shouldn’t be some people even wanted to limit it to not homeg grow they’re like people there’s growing Subs there’s growing Subs it’s like this is a a sub for cannabis this is the not Chicago where can I like what what scammer can I talk to uh subreddit if you want to have discussion a lot of times when I’m looking for news issues or like news in Illinois the first thing I go to is high all trees yeah then I go to Illinois news joint and then I go to marijuana moment you know what I mean like basically what do Co got to say what is what are the users of Reddit uh although it’s a hive of scum and villainy and nobody should ever go there please stay away from Reddit I don’t know why I’m sometimes it’s like a thankless job it’s the worst I say job it’s I don’t even get paid for I don’t want to tell you how long I’ve been a redditor or uh you know how many Subs I mod um yeah no I completely understand don’t go to Reddit it’s it’s terrible yeah it’s horrible don’t run a subreddit I guess is what I’m saying because they don’t care they just they want to burn the house down [ __ ] you honestly I just got I just got rid of I just got rid of a bunch of subreddits that I had and it is empowering and free and great not to have to care about those anymore and know that those communities are in good hands and those communities are their own communities and and as I always used to tell sub uh or Reddit moderators uh you should be like a janitor you should be reacting you should be reacting and saying hey this is not appropriate here this is not appropriate here this regardless of what it is allow allow all out don’t don’t try and run it because the community runs it you don’t you’re just cleaning up after the place you’re a caretaker yeah you know what I mean yeah and honestly yeah it’s like the whole that’s how communities Thrive yeah exactly and the whole mods fell asleep thing unfortunately can actually happen sometimes there I like tell people they’re like what why is this allow it’s like because I let you know like I’m not constantly scrolling through it I check it from time to time but yeah if people aren’t like reporting things it’s hard to see like when people are being an [ __ ] for example or uh you I will tell you that even on subreddits uh that have multiple millions of users people still don’t report things and no matter how many automod rules you have even back in the day we created Bots before automod was even around to deal with this because sometimes the amount of spam or off topic stuff happens people still still have to go through and like the amount of manual will work to do that if it was that big of an issue click the report button it’s one button right and if we don’t get to it because we’re volunteer mods the Reddit will yes yes they will yeah if it’s that really big of a deal like if it’s really that big of a deal so anyways though yeah no thank you for bringing that up I don’t often talk about it on this show because it’s not really like you know it’s just a place for people to talk it’s not really much to talk about it’s just a place to talk you’re doing the right thing you’re allowing the community to be a community and you’re not trying to say hey it can only be this or it can only be that just like our are you know some of the people we listen to today it can only be this way can’t be this way and that’s not the way to do it another quick thought I just have to give and I want to give you some more space before we start to wrap up like uh one other thing that I’ve had pop up and still happens people will report content creators and it’s like no content creators are welcome and actually I’ve been threatened to be I’m not allowed to share my content on the Illinois subreddit like at all because somehow they put together that I am me and me and this well um so and I get it like self-promotion type of thing yes there many 10% in the mod code it used to say 10% should be uh like generic or not generic uh but like natural links like natural stuff that somebody would do and then 10 % can be about whatever it is you’re trying to promote or whatever sure but they also there’s people who use multiple accounts and so they use like browser fingerprinting between you know whether you’ve signed up on your your Chrome browser your Firefox browser they use fingerprinting that way to put all that stuff together because there’s vote manipulation they think that somehow Reddit influenced the election federally which I don’t know about that um maybe but like there’s all these different things that they do to kind of uniquely identify that and so you have to be very careful because there are nefarious people trying to make money and that’s the wrong thing to do if you’re just passionate about something and you’re in a specific subreddit for what it is I don’t see any problem with posting your things now you should be smart and not upvote them on Alternate accounts right because that’s bad and that’s not natural and that’s vote manipulation that’ll get you banned on Reddit yeah you know what I mean it’s so crazy to know the to have to know all these specific rules to just post a link about hey look at this article I wrote in about Illinois in an Illinois s rdit like what the hell exactly well and that’s the one thing I tried to explain and I’m not accusing you of doing that I’m sorry I I didn’t want to make it seem like I was accusing doing any of that I’m just saying that’s those are the reasons why I totally get it like I totally get it and I thought about when you said it that way it makes a lot more sense like yeah somebody could be could claim to say all the things that I actually said but becoming from a dishonest perspective um but yeah that was the one point that was the one because I I ackowledge that I just tried to like I was like hey I saw you take took my stuff down like what’s what’s the deal they’re like we we told you apparently they told me I didn’t know this I didn’t remember this like we you shouldn’t be sharing your own content I was like oh all right I mean I was sharing free content of which I’m a primary source material on like it was like it was like a question that where it was like oh I think it was literally about a bill a representative wrote and I said I interviewed this representative this is what they said and they like took that down I was like the [ __ ] and but I was like it’s free well they want they want somebody else to post your content they don’t want you they they want it to be a natural thing I get it that’s that’s where I got their persp you post my stuff I’ll post the uh the Illinois your stuff he can post your you know what I mean and that’s really what community that’s how communities like ours like supportto people happens where we support people no matter what and then we end up helping each other and that’s really what it’s all about one of the biggest things is that uh if I could just say one thing to everybody is just because you have something just because your neighbor has something doesn’t mean you can’t have it too there’s pie enough for everybody everybody can eat there’s room for everybody at the table stop trying to gatekeep there’s room for everybody at the table stop being jealous we can all work together we’re all the same same carbon beans at a certain temperature on this Earth You know what I’m saying um we’re all the same we’re all the same just it can be the same for everybody you know just make it fair and Equitable for everybody um you know just I don’t know smok right no it’s okay a rising tide lifts all boats yeah a rising tide raises All Ships we need to all help each other we’re all in the same boat um they’re still writing laws against us you know whether you’re an MSO or you’re just a person walking down the street intent is criminalized because if you don’t think these msos aren’t throwing AR aren’t moving packs out the back you’re out of your mind in all the states half the stuff goes to dispensaries half the stuff you know is whatever out the back door I’ve seen it been there you know I believe it I believe it well one thing you know I wanted to give you space because one thing before we wrap that we didn’t talk about did you have any other thoughts on um legislation because you only got I feel like you only got to make a one point and then we kind of spired off and yeah you know and add what are you g to do um I think I’m I’m glad to see legislation is moving this year I really am I think there’s a lot of good things that are actually happening in Illinois um and I think it leaves a lot of room to um you know interpretation as well we’ll see uh what actually makes it to the Amendments I think possibly with everybody being able to uh have a new license I know we talked about this earlier I’m hoping this is what you actually wanted me to say um if you read the Amendments it looks like everybody all the new dispensaries are going to have a new license they’re going to be able to cater to all the medical patients uh but I think that’s going to open up medical patients because they’re changing the definition and the type of license for everybody to more taxes and I think that’s uh you know unfortunate that somebody who is prescribed medicine is going to be taxed more for the privilege of accessibility in Illinois that’s uh that’s that’s a bad thing um I think is probably one of the worst things that could happen honestly out of the bills but I’m I’m glad the other things are happening because we do need some movement uh Illinois did not get any of the program well depending on how you look at it did they get it right from a consumer perspective no did they get it right from a taxes and can we pay our bills perspective and can I look good for whatever presidential run I’m eventually going to make yeah yes fantastic go watch the JB stuff just you know you live streamed it he was just cannabis in Illinois is so good we’ve done so many good things well yeah but we’ve we also haven’t gotten it right and and and it looks like we’re starting to move in that direction to to get the social Equity dispensaries going um the Transporters uh I think we’re creating uh uh something that’s not there I think if we needed Transporters then the market would be there for it I think trying to regulate uh a bunch of licenses for social Equity people that we screwed over in the first place doesn’t make it any better I think they’re still stuck and I think having to regulate it more and more is probably not the right way to do it it is a way to do it but I don’t think that it’s going to turn out well in the long run for Illinois right I don’t know if I’m speaking out of pocket that’s just my personal opinion you no um so um I wanted to just play a clip that like you kind of reminded me of um I’m trying to see what you said what did I just do a control F4 sorry about the uh neighborhood noise apparently somebody’s got a new TR their okay cool hey new microphone yeah let’s go um so um you just made a point about how the social Equity lenses got screwed over and it’s interesting how like maybe you’ll see the point I’m I’m about to make I’m gonna make it by just playing a press a piece of the press conference that recently happened um but it’s funny how like instead of looking for like you say ways to be less burdensome they’re almost like doubling down on syntax it’s a syntax right it’s it’s it’s it’s no better than the soda tax yeah you know what I mean here’s this clip especially in elor extremely high um so there there are lots of operators not necessarily Illinois that may be operating in both spaces to make ends meet until things change across the country this that sell Delta are basically saying that you’re just trying to Tamp down competition correct can you respond to that so they she was just asked some people say you’re just trying to Tamp down on competition can you respond to that now this relates to your point about like over regulations and these burdensome fees no thank you for that question um we don’t want to clamp down on competition in the sense of like if you want to sell hemp a not intoxicating product you’re welcome to sell that um but if you’re wanting to and I’ll give you an example I’ll tell you a story I get tons of information um from Cannabis operators sending me pictures of billboards that say come to come to my dispensary where without the tax you have this gentleman here that’s a principle that Blood Sweat and Tears to get his business running according to state law licensed taxed heavily regulated heavily it’s it’s not a competition frankly you know it’s it’s basically a way to destroy the Cannabis industry frankly legalizing it problem so a person just asked so legalizing it was the problem which I think is an interesting question because in other words if we wouldn’t have legalized it and all these people were doing what they do it wouldn’t be illegal and and so the people that are being targeted as she said you know and being undercut as they say are the as are a result of us being legalized so as you said they’re they’ve been screwed over so hold on um because I actually know a legitimate Industrial Hemp Farmers most people in the Cannabis space probably have no idea what a hemp Farm actually looks like and what Industrial Hemp as biomass is okay um and that includes thca hemp okay um I like to liken it to corn and sweet corn it’s the same thing it’s corn and sweet corn are they different yeah kind of but they’re really the same thing and what what it comes down to is that uh when you extract thca and from a hemp plant and a Canabis plant okay THC THC once you decarb this they are the very same thing everything is the same indistinguishable okay so why wouldn’t cannabis companies want to do that right because this is more cost effective now uh industrial uh uh hemp is licensed uh under the Department of Agriculture and the uh pilot program for Illinois hem correct right so they’re they are taxed and licensed already if I go into a smoke shop right now and I want to buy some Hidden Hills pre-roll Delta 8 I’m paying tax on it if I go online right now to call to Franklin I’m gonna have to pay Illinois State Tax so I’m already being taxed on it so I don’t understand that question I am being taxed on it I’m being taxed on the income that I have true I’m being taxed on the goods that I buy true that’s a great that’s a really great point they got my tax and now now in Illinois as of January 1st 2024 um all the people who were growing uh Industrial thca Hemp in Illinois are subject to a new testing method and that was because the Department of Agriculture last year changed the rules and the Illinois law states that in order to have the Illinois hemp pilot program it must follow the Department of Agriculture testing rules and that is after decarbox ilation you cannot have more than 3% THC so as of January 1st 2024 all of the in hemp in Illinois that is all the businesses that are making this stuff growing this stuff stuff are subject to this new testing so we’ve already taken care of it now we just want to add more licenses more taxes but less people can grow it right I think that was actually her point right intoxicating hemp products that’s what they’re worried about they’re not worried about taxes they’re worried about well hey well because I’m an MSO and I had to in the state made me paid $180 $100,000 why aren’t why isn’t the farmer right because he’s a farmer dude and not a millionaire and not privileged to have access to that capital or not privileged to be in the right place at the right time with the access to the right friends who got arrested or being the alderman that is now the whatever you know what I mean like they’re farmers in Illinois you’re in Chicago relax you know the rest of Illinois is all Farms show show show me the next big city you know Rockford Poria dude let me show you some Farmland right right near me there’s like 500 acres of industral hemp in this summer you’ll be able to drive right next to it it’ll be right on the road like corn right around Fourth of July that’s cool it’s going to be so cool and the stuff they’re doing with Industrial Hemp taking the herd out of of of the stock of the hemp and turn it into straw and let me tell you these straws are way better than any paper or hemp straw you’ve ever seen you can take that thing and throw it and it probably stick in drywall but if you throw it away after 3 4 days it it it decomposes nice that’s interesting yeah dude imp for victory dude containers that are like hard as plastic but decomposable right the stuff you can do with biomass is is is crazy more soybean farmers and corn Farmers need to think about biomass and hemp and and shout out to the people in Illinois doing that work right now shout out to all those hemp Farmers I know you had uh our friend hemp M yeah on Rachel Barry shout out to her I went down there and uh for one of their Lobby days and that was super fun and shout out to her she’s really doing great work I recommend everybody uh you Illinois hemp growers association you should join give them some money they’re great people real hemp Farmers hemp creete go look at hemp creete I mean like for God’s sake the insulation properties of hemp is mindblowing but lawmakers don’t care about that right yeah and it really just seems like I guess maybe this is a good point to close on I was shown this for the first time actually by Chris Berry pull up the farm bill from 2018 this is so cool because you know people are talking about oh reschedule deschedule the thing was talking about so if you pull up the farm bill and I’m gonna try to do this I believe it’s click here and then I somehow I open up the full text doing this on the Fly okay here it is are you okay let’s go so we’re gonna I wanted to guess but I don’t want to be wrong guess no I’m gonna let you go I’m gonna let you go because I you know okay I’m scrolling all the way to the bottom and I’m sorry you had you had Chris Berry on not Rachel Berry but shout out to Chris Berry as well and shout out to Rachel Barry Rachel is fantastic yes and so is Chris spoke um this is amazing conforming changes to the Controlled Substances Act the term Marana does not include hemp as defined well I’m not I’m gonna skip over it but this is no hemp as defined in section 297a of the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 Agricultural Marketing Act the marketing part is the important part that’s the actual important part that most people would go and and just skip over you have to realize that this came from a marketing standpoint hemp is not the same as marijuana the term that we made up right right the term that you know we didn’t want more agricultural hemp because that’s better paper than trees right right it’s marketing it’s not real it’s not fact just because they said it doesn’t mean it’s fact it’s marketing do we trust Marketing in 2024 no we don’t no we don’t well said sorry no it’s okay it’s okay it’s a great point I skipped over it you made a great point and uh you know the the main point I was making is that it removed this part of cannabis as you pretty much just said like it’s a completely arbitrary term as you were just saying right um it but it this what this did this little section here y it carved out a section of the cannabis plant arbitrarily to take off of the Controlled Substances Act and you know everybody’s saying right now oh you know or at least a lot of that I should say a lot of The Advocates I speak to I think you would also say this I don’t want to assume uh correct me if I’m wrong you would say we don’t need to be rescheduling we need to deschedule right yeah off and so here’s a starting point and it’s just like we just need to it’s it’s right here we need to expand it so we’ve got this narrow set right here it’s called hemp and it’s arbitrary as we’ve acknowledged we need to just say no the full cannabis plant because that’s how easy it it is you see that that is how easy it is to get it off of the controlled substance I’m like overflowing with joy I cannot I’m just like yeah absolutely you’re not wrong you’re 100% not wrong it’s there we have precedent yeah so that’s and see this is if anybody’s still listening at this point first of all you’re a saint but that’s that’s my that’s my perspective on hemp I don’t really particularly honestly enjoy delta8 or some of these like synthetic products it’s not about that it’s about the principle we have descheduled substances for the first time and if you don’t like them don’t don’t consume them but I’m saying it’s a it’s a Leap Pad it’s a starting point and it’s the first time I even I was trying to Google it I was like have we ever descheduled anything before I know for certain that like somebody like Hamilton Morris has helped to prevent the scheduling of certain substances but I I personally am not aware of and maybe people can write in I’m not aware of anything being descheduled like any drug I mean besides you know of course alcohol and tobacco but it’s not like it was a I don’t believe it was a thing I mean just remember that Congress at any point Congress going back to I don’t know Ronald Reagan you know 1980 84 you know 88 92 Clinton 96 right like just going back all the way right Congress uh could with the stroke of a pen change that and they haven’t they don’t have the will because the public is not informing them that’s what the will should be but they could do that at any point if they wanted to so it’s not you know it’s not if and and when and how like they can do it they just don’t want to yeah and that’s you know that goes to your point about just having the will to do things yeah well Aaron uh I want to thank you for giving me your time this afternoon and for you know sharing uh some of the thoughts that you did because I really think like I said like I couldn’t have said it a lot of the things You’ mentioned today I could not have said better myself and uh like I said I’m looking forward to the next time we speak I’m looking forward to connecting with the co-host Dave and actually you chilling in the uh chilling in the shop but also like you say meeting other people which I think is one of the coolest things that you do is uh you know elevating other people besides the fact that you have an awesome platform uh you know you name dropped like a few you showed products that like people that I like took notes and like when I go to these things I’m going to look for them now and so and it’s because of you so I would love to introduce you to all the homies like I know uh I reshare a lot of your stuff and I like I notic that people uh in my community are like tuning in and reposting your stuff now and that’s the coolest part man like you got to come and and just you know be a part of the community because you’re already there you know what I mean so you just got to come out and and it’ll be it’ll be fun it’ll be fun oh yeah man thanks for having me on I really appreciate it sorry if I rambled a bunch you know if uh if you watch my podcast you know that Dave’s usually the guy that talks and I’m the guy who has has to like stop him and interrupt him and be like who let’s stay on schedule you know is it nice to be able to just kind of let loose sometimes yeah yeah I mean you know being in the public is always kind of weird and kind of anxiety inducing because you’re like I’m really putting myself out there and like if you stop and think about it and you may maybe smoke the wrong strain and you get too anxious you go oh they’re GNA find out about me they’re gonna what am I doing you know so uh it’s nice but you know you got to remember to you got to be you got to be cool too right yeah you gota be Cowboy Cole too and we appreciate you for like uh being out there and leading Us in the space uh just having fun talking about what’s going on in Illinois uh you really you have a standard that you’ve kind of continued on you know and and it’s really nice to see you put in the work and continue to ask the questions and not be afraid to talk to everybody all over um it’s it’s really nice to see and I appreciate that from you Cole and I recommend everybody go give a dollar to Cole on patreon for the Cole memo you know what I mean it’s not just a Clinton era thing you can help this young man right now live his dreams of reporting to you of what’s going on in Illinois talking to people these people listen this guy had on the president of GTI like man let’s go that guy like actually listened to what you had to say say you’ve had Stu egman on that guy is cannabis industry lawyer yes man you get the people I’m trying to get my co-host to show up so we can just have some guests but he’s busy he’s got a job like I’m lucky I’m I just get to play my pretend radio show dude you’re too kind and uh thank you though seriously thank you for for saying that that means a lot and uh folks support doe.com all the links are in the
